Holidays are for families

So many families have precious few opportunities to get together in todays society. It is not a new phenomenon, but it seems that families don't get together like they used to, except for funerals, or maybe weddings. Sometimes not even for them.

Holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas are opportunities for at least small groups of family members to visit with those who they have largely lost contact with.

Virtual travel may be one way to bridge some of the difficulty in visiting with those who live long distances apart.

Time Management

A different schedule for work requires adjustments to daily and weekly routines. Changing how and when things are done, after doing them the same way for years, is a difficult thing to adjust to. It can, however, prove to be beneficial in providing a compelling excuse to reevaluate things and to eliminate wasted steps and build in more efficient ways of doing things.

P starts a new job

I don't know what the significance of it was, but I find it interesting that P started a new job on the day after the day of a new beginning which was also the first weekday (workday). So, in addition to the symbolic "new beginning", it really is a new beginning for her.

It was a positive end to a long period of not knowing what the future was going to look like. The possibility of having to uproot and move has all been put on the back burner for now.

Hopefully, the new job will be rewarding and meaningful. It promises to be a different environment with a lot of new things to learn and people to get to know.

The beginning

55 years ago the Journey began. It was an important day for me. On that day, a new life filled with potential and promise was brought into the world. Following that time, the path through the many days, weeks, months and years has been filled with life experiences that have both enhanced the potential and limited the promise that was there on that first day.

Time is probably the most precious gift that we all have, and we all have in common. For those who have run out of their share of this valuable resource, they only have the ability to exist in the memory of those who they have been able to reach through their deeds and accomplishments. For the rest of us, it is our choice, and our fate that will determine whether we are to be among those who live on in the memories of the living, or whether we will perish in all ways upon our passing from the ranks of the living. We also have a choice whether these memories, if they are going to exist, are positive and inspirational or not.

So, as my life journey continues, I hope that I can fulfill my desire to make a meaningful contribution that will inspire a positive memory in the minds and hearts of others.

I have taken a path that has not always led me to the best result. This is easy to admit, but not easy to change. Changing someone else is not often a realistic goal, especially if the person in question does not wish to change. True change can only be accomplished if the person who needs to change, is wanting of the change.

Self directed change is no easy task. The life experiences that have molded ones inner response mechanisms are often so deep as to be very resistant to change. Many are not able to accomplish the necessary change without help. Sometimes this requires professional help from someone who is trained to help deal with the change process.

Patience, hard work, discipline, and a new set of priorities will begin to replace character flaws with new tendencies that are more consistent with those required to experience a greater sense of life fulfillment.
